What You’ll Do
Insurance producers are the engine of an insurance agency. Producers are licensed to sell and negotiate life, health, property, or casualty insurance. Licenses must be earned through a state mandated test.

The essential job of an insurance producer is to bring business to the agency. This means finding new clients and maintain relationships with current clients. Producers must be a reliable first point of contact when a client needs to file a claim or change their coverages.

Producers, above anything, must be well educated in their insurance products of choice. They must be up to date on current laws and trends in the insurance world and able to educate clients on coverages.

Here is a list of some daily producer tasks.

Acting as an intermedicary between customers and the agency.

Prospecting and reaching out to new potential clients.

Reading over current, renewal, and new business insurance policies.

Who You Are
Insurance producers are at their core sales people. No one personality makes a good sales person but often sales people are gregarious and outgoing. ​

Sale people should enjoy talking and keeping up relationships with customers. Being able to have a conversation with a current or potential customer is a must.
​
Producers should be organized people and able to learn and reiterate insurance related information to others.
Those wanting to go into insurance producing should be resilient. Part of the job is hearing no again and again. Producers don't let this get to them.
Insurance producers should have good communication skills and be able to really listen to their customers. Small details of a customers day to day could make all the difference in the coverage they need.
